The Matrix
In the matrix the theme of mind over matter comes up in which the protagonist Neo has to come to realize that the matrix does not exist allowing Neo to gain superhuman qualities in the matrix and even being able to defeat Agents. This is similar to The Secret train of thought in which you are past believing in something but know that it will happen which allows you to subtly control the world around you. Theoretically it means that if you could believe that you can fly not just believe but accept it as a fact of nature then you could.
Brazil
What I liked most about Brazil was how realistic this future could become. It is always most shocking to see a science fiction movie that may actually be the future one day. I think the reason why this film feels so realistic is because of the lack of advanced technology but thats just the logistics of the movie. I feel that this totalitarian society is a possible future for human beings because of how we act today. If you go to the DMV they will immediately request several papers just to see you which is why I think that this system could easily spread to the rest of our government if it hasn't allready.

Bladerunner
My favorite part of this movie is the questioning of ones empathy or compassion towards others. Throughout the movie Harrison Ford plays the part of a bounty hunter known as Bladerunner who hunts down replicants, artificial beings, that look and act like human beings but are built by humans many of them for heavy duty jobs as slave labor. This movie brings up the theme that as we become more technologically advanced we lose more empathy. The movie shows this by having humans ruthlessly hunt down replicants, who are built only to be slaves, that escape and become sentient. Throughout the movie it is seen that the replicants may have more emotion than humans do this is seen with Rachel when she is kissing Rick and with Roy when he chases Rick. However the humans like the scientists who made the replicants show little or no emotion the only one seen there is fear.

Soylent Green
I feel the perspective Soylent Green gives us of the future may very well have a real vision of what the future may be like if we continue as we do today. I actually agree with this idea of what the future may be like due to how environmentally concerned I am except I still believe we have the chance to correct it. Many experts say that at the rate of resources that we are currently using that we may very soon start running out of our planet's resources. Hopefully we can prevent this future and save ourselves from this fate.

2001: Space Odyssey
2001: Space Odyssey has a very unique perspective on what the future will look like. Space Odyssey has several important themes that can be seen throughout the story for example like man v.s. machine or how man becomes more desensitized as we advance. Personally this movie made me question my own emotion and the level of my empathy that I have towards other beings. I feel the points made about Hal's right to live and the astronauts quick decision to disconnect him made me realize how little we have changed from animals. The astronauts ended Hal so easily because he endangered them and their lives however their reaction from such a thing should be a panic or mania instead it calm assertiveness. However from
Hal we have more interesting emotions for example Hal's interest in Dave's artwork and Hal's panic from being disconnected.
